Alexandria Davis is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, researcher, and performance deviser. She is a certified Dancer in Healthcare through the University of Florida Center for Arts and Medicine and a Dunham Technique Teacher certified through the Institute for Dunham Technique Certification. Alexandria is a member of the Woodshed Collective, an international group of teaching artists dedicated to developing performance research methodologies for intercultural performance. As an Assistant Professor of Dance in the Department of Theatre at Michigan State University, Alexandria believes that working at the intersection of artistic practice and intercultural performance theory fosters innovative and impactful experiences. These experiences contribute to the holistic development of individuals, enhancing their psychosomatic awareness and helping them understand their socialization habits. Alexandria is passionate about community-engaged performance as research, an approach that utilizes community arts practice and artistic performance as methodologies for researching and socializing the impact of the arts on social outcomes and wellness. She aims to partner with community members as co-creators of experiences that inform the development and socialization of new works and wellness practices. Alexandria believes these practices encourage audiences to view themselves as part of the solutions to real-world problems through creative arts practices that promote intrapersonal communication.
